Video Interview with Steve Bonney, by

|
Steve Bonney grew up in a blue collar family, the fourth of five children. His father was a machinist in an era when most items in our lives were still made in the U.S.A. Carrying on his family’s strong ethic for hard work, he has never been jobless since the age of 14. He currently farms organically in Greene County. The first in his family to graduate from college, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry before going on to earn a master’s degree in the life sciences. After earning all of his college expenses, he finished both degrees with zero debt for his education. He was proud to serve America in the Army Chemical Corps during the Vietnam War era, serving a total of six years active and reserve duty. He and his wife Patty have been married for 41 years, have a daughter and a son and four grandchildren. Steve takes great pride that his children and their spouses grew up in small Indiana towns, and all graduated from a major state university in Indiana. His work positions have included college teacher and department head, sales, project manager, small business owner/manager, and farmer. Since 1991, he has served as president/executive director of Sustainable Earth, a not-for profit organization that promotes small, family farm agriculture in Indiana. He has served on the board of directors of several not-for-profit organizations, volunteered service on several advisory boards, and has been active on a variety of quality of life issues throughout Indiana for over 30 years. In 2006, Steve was the lead plaintiff and fundraiser for a law suit challenging the constitutionality of the Indiana Toll Road lease that went to the Indiana Supreme Court.
